Chrysler Looks at Selling Viper
Aug 27, 2008
General - Link to Audio

In an attempt to balance its books…Chrysler is embarking on an ambitious plan to cut what the company calls non-core assets.  One of those assets may by the Viper unit. Chrysler C-E-O Bob Nardelli says in a statement that his company has been approached by third parties interested in buying the Viper and that Chrysler is listening to those parties. Auto analyst Ed Kim says the car may be an attractive acquisition.

“…certainly there are enough fans of the car that you know if some outside third party can find some way to profitably keep building  and selling it then there’s probably still a market for it.”

Kim says if the Viper is bought…it will most likely remain a low volume vehicle. So far this year…Chrysler has sold just under 700 units. I’m Noah Ovshinsky, WDET News.
