It looked like the Lions were finally going to win Sunday…but instead, they lost again…and are now oh-and-seven this season. WDET’s Pat Batcheller reports. Things went well early for the Lions. Running back Rudi Johnson scored a touchdown with time running out in the first quarter to give Detroit a 7-to-3 lead over the visiting Washington Redskins. It was the first time this year the Lions scored in the first 15 minutes of a game. The teams traded field goals in the second quarter…giving Detroit a 10-to-6 halftime lead. But the Lions offense sputtered in the second half…and Washington capitalized…scoring 16 unanswered points…to take a 22-to-10 lead. Detroit answered with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Dan Orlovsky to Calvin Johnson to cut D-C’s lead to five. Washington kicked a field goal to make it 25-to-17 with just under two minutes left. The Lions had a chance to tie the game…but on fourth down with :48 seconds and no timeouts left…Orlovsky’s pass to Johnson fell a yard short of the first down…allowing the Redskins to take over and run out the clock.
