October 31, 2008             by Pat Batcheller

The Lions introduced their all-time team today…the 36 greatest players to wear the Honolulu Blue and Silver in the team’s 75-year history.  The list includes defensive lineman Robert Porcher…who played for 13 seasons before retiring in 2004 as Detroit’s all-time sacks leader.  Porcher says he knows what this year’s oh-and-seven team is going through…because it happened to him in 2001…when the Lions started oh-and-12.  His advice for the players…don’t quit.

“You continue to dig within.  It shows your true character if you‘re able to play within the scheme, do what is asked of you, tighten up your shoelaces, and give your all.”

The Lions have another chance to get their first win of the season on Sunday…when they play the Bears in Chicago.  The all-time Lions team will be honored on November at Ford Field…when the Jacksonville Jaguars come to town.

The Lions all-time team is listed below by name, position, and years played.  HOF represents players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
